Meet The Artists

Jaidra DuRant

Jaidra is the director and choreographer for the niad dance company based in Greenville, SC. Her work in the realm of theatrical and transcultural fusion is heavily influenced by MENAHT staged dance styles and her background in theater. Combining her love of creative story telling with flowing movements and expressive dance, Jaidra creates dance that not only tells a story, but empowers and engages both the audience and the dancer in deep emotional awareness.

Into the Mythic is the culmination of 22 years of study and exploration in dance, and Jaidra can't wait to share this art with you!

Laura Jae

Laura Jae has been a transnational and theatrical fusion belly dancer for 7 1/2 years, but has always loved dance.

Performing has always been in her blood. It began with first grade ballet class and evolved into theater in high school. As an adult she did community theater with F.I.R.E. in Fountain Inn, and performs with Niad and Serpentine Jade.

Laura never outgrew Halloween. She loves dressing up. Some of her favorites have been Valkyrie, fairy, and mermaid.

What creature will she embody next?

Amanda Klingler

Amanda began her dance journey taking classes from Jaidra in 2017. She joined the Niad dance company student troupe two years later & has been thrilled to dance with the group at festivals & events across South Carolina, as well as in North Carolina, Georgia & Texas.

Angela Dee

Angela Dee began dancing in 2016. Since then she has studied with niad, Stygian Dance, and Bohemian Belly Dance, traveled the southeast to dance at events and attend dance festivals, joined the niad dance company, and co-founded Serpentine Jade.

Brandy Long

Brandy is a lifelong dancer who has deeply immersed herself in a wide variety of social and staged movement arts. As the co-director of Discordia Arts, the precursor to niad, she developed countless theatrical fusion pieces that were performed at festivals and shows across the South Eastern US.

Now semi-retired from performing, but still a powerhouse dancer, Brandy is returning to the stage for this special show, and you don't want to miss it!

Heidi Baila

Heidi Baila is a lifelong lover of movement. She identifies as a transcultural fusionist blending dance styles from across the SWANAHT (Southwest Asian, North African, Hellenic and Turkish) regions, her western technical dance and musical theatre training with her Afro-Cuban heritage.

Heidi enjoys adding a theatrical flair to her pieces and is delighted to be participating in Jaidra’s vision. When not teaching, learning, creating or performing she works as a Diversity Consultant for BDE

Claire Dima

Claire Dima has been dancing since 2000, studying the dances of the Middle Eastern Diaspora

and the modern art they have inspired and helping make new generations of that modern dance.   She is excited about the ways that living cultures are creating new art while preserving their heritage.

Barefoot on burning sand, rocks and glass, armed and armored, we come to the call of the drum.  The drum is the collective heartbeat, the music the collective breath, the dancer to connect the collective electricity.  Eternal percussion of heartbeats, passion and rage, lets move together.
